Tonight I saw Green Day's American Idiot at the St. James Theatre. It reminded me a lot of HAIR, which I was not a big fan of. Take HAIR, substitute angsty punk rockers for hippies, the war in Iraq for the war in Vietnam, heroin use for LSD/marijuana, take away the nudity and add lots of Green Day songs and you've got American Idiot. I would be disappointed if I'd bought a ticket, but my friend will be working the opening night (it's currently in previews) and got the tickets for free. I'm always a fan of free entertainment! Though I probably wouldn't recommend the show to others, I'm glad I got to see it. Thanks, Candice D. for taking me!
